Peter Howes
President
Norton Motorcycles (Canada) Ltd.
In 1913, Hugh Mason was riding for the Newcastle-Upon-Tyne motorcycle company (NUT) when he went on to win the junior at the Isle of Man Time Trials that year. Peter comes by his enthusiasm quite honestly, as his grandfather (Charlie Reeve) was the shop foreman for the NUT Motorcycle Company.
On his grandmothers’ side, the family hails from “Motor” stock as well, with his father being related to the late Lord Nuffield, founder of Morris Cars and the famous MG cars, and eventually owner of the British Motor Corporation and was the most successful British industrialist in history.
Now today, it isn’t that Peter Howes just enjoys riding motorcycles, he is passionate about motorbikes. An avid motorcycle collector and mechanic, Peter has been riding motorcycles since his youth in Luton, just north of London in the UK. He has owned motorcycles ranging from Ambassadors to Zundapp, literally A to Z. It was during his youth that he gained his first experience with the historic Norton Commando, not just as a rider, but as a mechanic as well, (privately Peter will admit that the 1962 Velocette Viper was his favourite to ride).
However, Peter’s riding experience wasn’t all for pleasure, although he served for a number of years with the police service in the UK, Peter’s working career in Canada was with the nation’s largest municipal police service where he helped introduce new standards for driver and motorcycle training and operations along with vehicle and motorcycle selection, during his time as a police fleet manager.
Peter has run motorcycle tracks that range from the local sites at Mosport and Shannonville, to the renowned Time Trials (TT) route on the Isle of Man, and many in between across the UK and the US.
I am thrilled that our team is able to bring the new Norton bikes to Canada, it’s really a dream come true for me.”
Peter’s knowledge, skills and experience are key components to the success of Norton (Canada), however it is his passion for the motorbikes that comes shining through, and his excitement is infectious.
Motorbike riding isn’t just a hobby or a pastime, for Peter, it truly is a passion.

Chairman of the Board of Directors
Sam Agha has had major presence in the motorcycle industry in Canada for many years. He brings that knowledge and expertise now to Norton Motorcycles (Canada) Ltd.
While his motorcycle operations sell thousands of some of Canada’s most popular motorbikes every year, and millions of dollars worth of clothing and motorcycle accessories, Sam Agha’s automotive operations also encompass car and truck sales companies as well.
However, Norton motorcycles are his passion.
“I have been riding motorbikes for years, and each time I get on a bike, I always have that same sense of excitement as when I started riding.” That is what motivates Mr. Agha to bring the new Norton Commando 961 SE to Canada. “As soon as I saw the bike I got excited, I knew immediately that people would have to have this bike”. While the bike is exciting and definitely the showpiece for Norton Canada, we recognize that the Norton brand has a huge heritage and major brand appeal, not only for those that have actually ridden the original Norton’s in the past, but for a younger generation for whom the “retro” appeal of Norton will put our products in high demand.
