Mosport International Raceway – Sunday August 15th, 2010
Vintage road racers from across North America gathered at Mosport Raceway on the weekend of August 14-15 to put their machines and their skills out on the track and to the test on one of North Americas most renowned motorcycle race courses. Hundreds of riders on various generations of bikes took part in this exciting event.
Norton Canada was pleased to have the first Norton Commando 961 Sport in North America on the tracking and put through its paces by the motorcycle racing rider Paul Robbins, who is the first purchaser of a new Norton Commando 961 SE. Paul was riding a new production version of the Norton Commando 961 Sport edition that was right off the production line. This brand new bike was unmodified, and had only a few kilometers on the odometer since it was just uncrated only three days earlier. The Norton performed as you would expect, pulling well through all the curves in around the 120-140 mph range, while still well within the powerband. Paul said he was not pushing the bike and it still had power left.
It was a great weekend for all participants, and Norton Canada would like to thank all the organizers for the opportunity to show off the new Norton Commando to the public on this very prestigious track.

August 11th, Newmarket, Ontario
Norton Motorcycles (Canada) Ltd. was honoured to uncrate the first Norton Commando 961 Sport motorcycle in North America at our offices in Newmarket. Many members of the press attended this special event and it was a great thrill for Norton Canada President Peter Howes to ride the bike out of the crate.
While we were tremendously pleased with being able to host this event, the entire Norton team was preparing for the public display of the bike at the Vintage Road Racers Association track event at Mosport International Raceway on the week-end of August 14-15, when the bike will be on the track and put through its paces.

The 2010 “Notorious” International Norton Owners Association Rally
Amidst a stunning backdrop of beautiful scenery and in the midst of “motorcycle” roads that are the envy of us in eastern Canada, Norton owners and enthusiast from Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA, Mexico and Canada gathered to enjoy the spirit of motorcycling that is at the heart of the Norton experience. Hundreds of participants with a tremendous array of bikes from original unrestored to the most amazing and “better than new” examples, shared their knowledge and enjoyed their wares.
The International Norton Owners Association President Suzi Greenway-Haenggi herself acknowledged at the final dinner this year’s event was outstanding and will be difficult to “top”. George Cameron, event Chairman and vice-chair Mark Bird and his wife Sandy and all of the organizing committee are to be congratulated for the planning and execution of a “top notch” affair.
Norton Canada was thrilled at being able to participate at this event, and President Peter Howes was overwhelmed at the generosity and hospitality that he was shown. Norton Canada wants to congratulate the event organizers and participants for the standards attained by all. We look forward to participating in next years event in New York state.
